Wireless charging for electric vehicles (EV) and hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) is coming to market soon, and WiTricity is leading the charge in technology development and standardization with its magnetic-resonance-based wireless power-transfer expertise and technology.

Together, WiTricity and ST are developing semiconductor solutions that combine WiTricity’s intellectual property and wireless power-transfer mixed-signal IC-design expertise with ST’s leadership in power-semiconductor design, fabrication, and packaging capabilities and resources.

And the technology is fast becoming a reality. The WiTricity system can charge at the same speed and similar efficiency as wired systems and is ready for deployment.

WiTricity’s ultimate goal is to “cut the last cord,” bringing convenience to the powering and charging of consumer electronics, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, as well as medical, industrial, and automotive applications. And ST is helping enable this journey.
