electronica 2022 behind the scenes and what the industrial live stream didn’t show you!

Today, ST held a new live stream on industrial applications at electronica 2022. It featured partners demonstrating their solutions to critical challenges, experts explaining how to address the energy crises we face, and a presentation on how car batteries will power our homes thanks to a European effort. However, that’s only a fraction of what we are presenting at the ST Booth here at electronica 2022. Hence, to surprise our blog readers, here’s a demo that didn’t make it to the live stream.

MI factory rail and robot arm

The presentation introduces a robot arm that loads a cassette containing wafers onto a conveyor belt and then retrieves it at the end of the line. It simulates a sensitive asset traveling within a site. The demo itself reflects actual machines already deployed in ST factories, and a map displays the real two-kilometer trip a similar asset takes within our operations.

On the demo, the cassette crosses checkpoints, each equipped with a display highlighting critical industrial features like condition monitoring, asset tracking, predictive maintenance, and more. This demo is, therefore, highly symbolic because it embodies all the concepts we covered on Day 2 at electronica into one application. Companies wishing to work on similar applications can start using the STEVAL-ASTRA1B development board, which includes an STM32WB and an STM32WL.
