Here’s a little conversation with Gianluigi Forte about the first fuel injector using a gallium nitride device. Gianluigi is at electronica 2022 to offer his expertise as a motor drives specialist and member of the technical staff. We sat down with him to discuss his collaboration with Marelli, the maker of parts for racing cars. The product is a very early prototype, and we are still far from a commercial design. However, it opens the door to new automobile applications relying on GaN to optimize the motor design significantly. By using GaN, ST and Marelli conceived something unique. Today at electronica 2022, ST held a live stream on industrial applications bringing digitalization to industrial assets. We also looked at how silicon carbide is helping tackle the energy challenges. Ultimately, the talk show explored the signs that Industry 5.0 is nearing and how all these innovations can come together to improve people’s lives in the form of the Mobilize Powerbox.
What happened behind the scenes
The ST Blog also explored the MI factory automation robot that simulates the transportation of sensitive assets across a fab. It is a highly symbolic display as it combines many of the innovations discussed on the talk show.
