The Mobile World Congress Shanghai opened its door yesterday and ST is showcasing its latest solutions enabling IoT and Smart Driving. The main focus of this MWC19 in Shanghai is 5G, the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and big data. The event takes place at the New International Expo Centre, but for those who can’t make it, here’s a little tour of the ST booth (N1.D85) with some of its main demos and displayed that we organized around six major attractions: Security, Automotive, Sensor, AI and Processing, Connectivity, Analog and Power.
Security
The STM32L5 TrustZone demo showcases balance optimizations between performance, power consumption, and security thanks to the STM32L5 MCU. Leveraging the Arm® Cortex®-M33 security features and Armv8-M TrustZone technology, the STM32L5 ensures the flexible isolation of hardware and software.
Automotive
ST is presenting its TeseoV and TeseoAPP GNSS receivers. They address precise positioning needs in the dashboard navigation, smart antennas, telematics navigation, V2X, and Level 2+ / 3- systems, meeting stringent security requests beyond ASIL (Automotive Safety Integration Level) B.
Sensor
The STWIN demo shows extensive connectivity options to help engineers create modern industrial sensor nodes. This demo shows visitors how intelligent sensors detect real-time vibrations, noise, and temperature for industrial equipment to enable predictive maintenance. ST will also premiere its People Counting demo that uses the VL53L1X Time-of-Flight sensor to count people going through a door and show the number on a LED screen.
AI and Processing
The AI and Processing demos with show STM32Cube.AI recognizing handwriting, human activities, and types of food. It still is a unique solution to bring machine learning to all sorts of applications.
Connectivity
The 100-node BlueNRG-Mesh network for connected IoT objects shows ST’s Bluetooth MESH and intelligent sensor turn-key solutions for industrial applications. In addition, the booth displays the STM32WB E-LOCK. Based on the STM32WB MCU, this smart-lock demo integrates Bluetooth, an MCU, a component running fingerprint algorithm, Zigbee, Thread, making it one of the most cost-effective solution on the market.
Analog and Power
The booth offers various power-management and wireless-charging solutions, including the 15W 3-coil USB Type-C powered demo and USB Power Delivery demo from ST partner Würth.
